Among the all the automakers currently working on an electric fleet, GM stands out. Its recently released 2021 Sustainability Report shows the full scale of the automaker’s concerted efforts to shift to a greener future.
The most visible aspect of GM’s dedication to an electric world is its lineup of electric vehicles for Chevrolet. GM has been ramping up their release of these cutting-edge models, with several already on offer across a variety of price points. The Bolt EV is perfect for city driving, while the Bolt EUV is great for those wanting a slightly larger ride. The Silverado EV, meanwhile, brings all the power of the original truck with none of the emissions.
Last year also saw GM make impressive financial pledges toward expanding access to electric vehicles. It pledged $750 million to invest in charging infrastructure through 2025 and started up a $50 million philanthropic fund with the goal of making EVs more accessible to disadvantaged groups. In addition to all of this, GM also announced that it would be putting $7 billion towards four Michigan plants that will allow for more battery cell and electric truck manufacturing, as well as opening up thousands of jobs.
GM isn’t done yet, either; it’s in this for the long haul. Soon, it will add the all-electric Chevy Blazer and Equinox to its lineup. To learn more about these and other Chevy EVs, contact our team here at Rentschler Chevrolet in Slatington, Pennsylvania.
