If you’re looking for an off-road-ready adventure truck, you need to consider the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. Overland Journal recently named this truck as its first Overland Truck of the Year and described it as “one of the most exceptional overland trucks ever sold in North America.”
To determine the winner of this prize, Overland Journal tested six mid-size pickups. The editors drove these trucks for thousands of miles on both paved and off-road trails. They considered factors like reliability, capability, durability, payload, and efficiency.
The Colorado ZR2 Bison was built with a collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles. Their goal was to create the ultimate off-road truck, and it shows.
“From our very first meeting, Chevrolet and AEV agreed on a common goal: To build a truck capable of extreme off-road use and backed by a limited factory warranty,” said Darren Bohne, Chevrolet Colorado chief engineer. “As such, to be named the ultimate overland vehicle by the ultimate authority in overland travel is a huge honor for the entire team at Chevrolet and AEV.”
The Bison comes standard with a wide range of off-road-ready equipment, including five skid plates, stamped steel bumpers, front and rear locking differentials, cast-iron control arms, front and rear track widened 3.5 inches, and a factory suspension lifted 2 inches more than a Colorado Z71.
In addition to these incredible features, the Bison is also available with a strong and efficient 2.8-liter Duramax® turbo-diesel engine and an aftermarket winch.
